"Y'know, the Avengers discovered shawarma"
We hope you are enjoying this new series where we upload recipes inspired by the movies we love, uniting our two passions: cinema and food.
We love the magic of cinema, because it takes us to exciting places and fantastic meals. In this third episode we bring you something we have wanted to do for a long time (since the ancient times of "Avengers"), and the recent release of the film. "Deadpool & Wolverine" was the perfect excuse to bring it to life. Directed by Shawn Levy and raised by Ryan Reynolds's will and his company Maximum Effort, In this film we are given the end of the Fox universe, giving way to a new era (hopefully) for superhero movies.
So, what better way to unite the universes than with food, as they did in the movie, and to honor nostalgia and this new era, we bring you the "first" Avengers meal with this recipe.
Tony Stark, played by the glorious Robert Downey Jr, is known for his insatiable appetite and cravings in the middle of battle. If you want to see how this famous post-credits scene came about, here is a behind-the-scenes video of the Avengers movie.

1 Tsp smoked paprika
1 Tsp black pepper
2 bay leaves
1/4 cup Toum sauce (garlic as you like, pinch kosher salt, fresh half lime juice, oil, water)
Pita bread
For french fries
2 potatoes
1 Tsp smoked paprika
1/2 Tbsp kosher salt
1 Tsp Oil
Prep Time
Instructions should always be concise and to the point, so here they go:
Slice thinly and mix the potatoes with salt, oil and paprika. Cook them in the airfryer.
Whisk together the minced garlic, yogurt, olive oil, red wine vinegar, citrus juices, 7 spice, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt until fully combined.
Pour the marinade in a container and mix everything together until the meat and onions. Tuck in the bay leaves. Marinate at least one hour, or overnight in the fridge.
Cook in a pan and stir everything well until cooked.
To make a shawarma wrap, strain the meat so it's not overly juicy, and place it on the warm pita bread. Top with tomatoes, pickles, toum sauce, chips, spiced onions, parsley, mint.
Recommendations:
Serve with crispy onions
To make the Toum sauce, mix all the ingredients (garlic, kosher salt, lemon juice, oil and water)
Cut the potatoes into super thin julienne strips so you can make the wrap well and it doesn't end up too thick
Heat the pita bread on the griddle with a splash of water and cover it to keep it moist. This way it will stay flexible and won't break.
You can have an Avengers marathon while enjoying this meal! Thanks for making it to the end! If you enjoyed this content please share and if you would like to see a particular recipe... leave it in the comments!
