Peanut Butter and Oreo Bar | snack / Dessert inspired in The Parent's Trap | E002

"At home, I ate with peanut butter. You do? That is so weird. You kidding? Most people find that totally disgusting. I know. I don't get it. Me either"

Welcome to this new series where we will be posting recipes from movies, putting together both of our passions: Film and Food.

The magic of movies is that it takes us to great places and also great food. And this second episode we bring you the oreo bar/snack, it could be a refreshing dessert. Inspired in a classic from our time: The Parent's Trap directed by the brilliant Nancy Mayer. A rare combination of ingredients and how, because of it, they discover the (more than evident) relationship between them. This scene makes this "guilty. pleasure" hard to forget.

We took in our hands to try this controvertial duo for some, and bring you the recipe. Enjoy this PB & Oreo bar.

Oreo COOKIE BAR AND PB | snack INSPIRED IN THE PARENT'S TRAP

ingredients

Oreo Crust

  • 1 & 1/2 Cups Oreo Cookies, no filling

  • 1/4 Cup Unsalted Butter, room temperature.

Peanut Butter Fudge

  • 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter

  • 1/4 Cup butter room temperature

  • 1/2 Tbsp Vanilla Extract

  • 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar

PREP TIME

Instructions shoudl be simple and to the point. So here they are:

  1. For the Oreo Crust, pulverize the cookies with no filling. Smash them, inside a bag and roll over a rolling pin, or with the blender or food processor.

  2. Mix the Oreo dust with the butter until you have an even mix. Put it in a cake or pie mold. And into the freezer while you make the fudge. At least 30 min.

  3. For the fudge, mix the peanut butter, the butter and the vanilla. Little by little add the powdered sugar.

  4. Remove the mold from the freezer and add the fudge. You can add cookie pieces. And back to the freezer. And there you go! A dessert for this hot summer days.

Recomendaciones:

  • Warning: it is very sweet! Try every now and then the mix, depending on the level of sugar that you prefer. Stop adding sugar when you think it's ok.

  • If you feel it's too sweet, add more PB.

  • If you are not into peanut butter, use any nut butter or spread (almond, cashew, walnut, pistachio, pecan)

  • Drink a strong coffee, a carajillo (only grown ups) or milk.

  • Put it some love, because that's how my mom thought me.

Enjoy it watching again this movie! Further on, we will make a more healthy version of this, maybe cheese pie, or with ice cream, or both! Thanks for getting to the end! If you liked this content, please share! And if you would like to see any special recipie leave it in the coments. We'll do our best to get it done.
